[Avid-L2] Re: Most popular editing software

From the perspective of someone who provides editing tools to editors, I can say that there is a very clear line being drawn between the traditional film/TV worlds and the new digital media ones.

I would concur with what Mark and others have stated on this thread, in that most large (10 or more editors) reality TV work groups, Avid media composer remains the tool of choice.

But in comparable sized workgroups of digital media (Internet distribution) they are primarily Adobe Creative Cloud. Three recent clients, with workgroups between 14-48 editors have all been Adobe CC .

If you look at where the growth opportunity for companies like Avid, Adobe, and Apple is, this should be a cause for concern for Avid.

I don't have visibility into FCP X, as Apple sells it exclusively through the Applications Store, but I've yet to see either type of workgroup running it at scale.

BTW- Here a Comes Honey Boo Boo is produced by Authentic Entertainment, a division of Endemol, and is cut on Avid. They like Bunim-Murray were an FCP 7 shop that converted back to Avid rather than move to FCP X.
