Re: [Avid-L2] Heads Up on Version 8 dongle upgrade

When I polled the group before I was initially going to go to Ver. 7 I was told it was compatible back to 5.5 at least.  Now Ver. 8 blasting seems unnecessarily limited.  This blows if I have to run 5.5 to maintain pan and zoom compatibility with clients running 5.5 or earlier.  The solution is to get a temp license from Avid but that's defeating the traditional dongle benefit of just working universally backwards.

Here's a response to an earlier thread I started:

I've run all the way back to v5.5.x with a MC/Sym v7 blasted dongle. Just whichever version you run has to be the latest in the patches for that version, as they are the only ones to recognize the Sym option on the dongle.
