The method the AEs in the know tell me is to ama link to the clips and then transcode to a desired offline resolution. This creates ".new" transcoded clips. At this point you can trash the ".new" clips and go to the original ama bin of clips and relink those clips to the newly transcoded media. This approach should not include adding a Tape Name. I'm told for online then you remount the original source clips ama and things should link up. I think there are always a few burps along the way but I'm told this is the most solid overall workflow. YMMV
