I believe that latest versions of 6.5.x, 6.0.x and even 5.5.x will launch with a V. 8 Dongle. I have blasted my dongle for V 8 and I can still launch my 6.5.4 with it. Not sure about the subtleties of software activation. The activation code structure changed between 5.5.x and 6.0.x which required different activation numbers. I believe you can always get an earlier code for pre 6.0.x if needed. Marianna can help with that IIRC.
