Re: [Avid-L2] ScriptSync and Phrase Find no longer available

It's semantics, but: "works just as well as it ever has" means its basic functionality is still great, works well, and hasn't changed. All of the things you're complaining about are more recent features that, yes, could be implemented better. Open I/O hasn't been a problem for me (using AJA hardware). Smart Tool hasn't been a problem for me - I keep it turned off, have the tools turn on one at a time when I need them, and automatically turn off when I click the timeline ruler. So it does not get in the way for me. You can bypass FrameFlex if you want in Source Settings. And anything 5.1 I do in Pro Tools, so I can understand your frustration there. I will absolutely agree with you that there have been some features introduced that haven't worked as well as they should - don't get me started on AMA with Alpha - but I stand by my statement. In my world, especially with project sharing and basic, fast editing, Media Composer has been my first tool of choice and remains so.

I beg to differ. Especially the more recent features have all been far more flawed and less well-implemented than before. Open I/O (broken since its inception in 2011), Smart Tool (only tool you can't open/close/hide), FrameFlex (can't bypass), Target Mask (not on exports, not on Open I/O), 5.1 sound (can't hard-route to LFE, channel order inconsistencies) – that's just from the top of my head.

Also, my z800 v7.x does not respond as fast as 3.x and 5.5 did (and that was on less powerful XW8400 and XW8600's).

It works, but it does not work "as well as it ever has". That's actually a big issue for me.
