If you are looking at new cameras, have you considered the Panasonic range? Very popular in Australia, and great picture quality on the higher end range.
From my point of view as an editor/colourist, they record 1920x1080 10-bit video in AVC-Intra at 100Mb/sec to P2 cards. The cards are expensive, but backup storage is cheap, so most places copy the cards to their SAN, and also archive to a pair of external HDDs.
