RE: [Avid-L2] split fields on an edit

The mixdown approach insures a constant cadence which should have A frames on 00 and 05 time codes as long as the master is NDF.  I never deliver a 59,94 master NDF to the cadence relationship doesn't stick.  Perhaps the network is trying to remove pulldown on capture which will be fine with a consistent cadence.  If however you don't do the mixdown the cadence will be added to each shot with motion adapter and the cadence will only be consistent within each shot.  Visually this is fine but as I said if they try to remove pulldown with Avid this will create problems.  More advanced units like a Teranex can remove random pulldown on the fly.  At least that's what I've been told.  The only other QC potential might be if the clips weren't recognized as progressive and Avid added a blended interpolated motion adapter.  That can yield some messy split/merged frames.  As long as Avid knows the clips are progressive in the field motion column it will add a proper 2:3 cadence to each individual shot but the overall sequence will have random cadence breaks at cut points, again visually and electronically this is not an issue unless you try to remove the pulldown with a global setting.
