I had the exact same error and the problem for me was also a corrupt clip. Replacing the clip with a simple overwrite solved the problem. Scott's got the right answer.
I tracked down the specific clip by marking off various parts of the sequence. Eventually I got down to two clips next to each other. Both were from the same source. I reimported (getting rid of the corrupt media) and reedited. Actually, the timecode in the timeline of the corrupt clips was correct and I could see the tracking information if I turned off the viewer, so I didn't have to eye match or guess. I just typed in the exact same timecode for the beginning of each clip and voila... done.

This lovely error message occurred every time I attempt to duplicate/copy the Avid sequence.
