Its an indication of how things are changing. There's been a movement towards less technical evaluation of signals and levels and more visual considerations. As long as it looks ok then its ok.
I see a lot of content with white cljpping but below 700mv and loads of crushed blacks.
But I have to say I'm not happy with tge likes of Resolve Waveforms and their representations. So our Resolve grading suite has a tek rasteriser.
It also has a grade one Penta monitor as well as tge ptojector and even a grade one HD CRT sitting in the corner if need be.
