Re: [Avid-L2] never mind - Premiere's AutoSave not so "savey"

By the way, was there an earlier post/thread on this? If there is, I can't find it.
I'd like to know what the actual problem was, because I'm under the impression that the Autosave function in the latest version of Premiere works basically the same way as FCP 7 (and After Effects). If you managed to lose *all* your work because that's actually NOT the case, I'd appreciate some more info so I can avoid that happening to me...
Cheers,

D.

I found it. The Premiere Pro Auto Save folder last saved project information on December 9th. My preferences ARE set correctly. One MAJOR strike against Premiere. I have almost NEVER been screwed by the Avid Attic. It has saved me on countless occasions. I have also been saved regularly by FCPs Auto Save. When I bitch about the need to have a PROFESSIONAL editing solution, this is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. If I was on a deadline for this I would be screwed. Adobe definitely needs to get it's crap together. When people ask "Why don't you try FCP-X?" this is one of the reasons. I try to expand my horizons by using something other than Avid and I get utterly hosed. Why should I switch when it is so damned dependable? FCP-X may be just as dependable, but I have to RISK considerable time and effort to make a switch that - at the present time - is not compelling. As great as it might be, if I get hosed by something like what Premiere just did, that makes me much more disinclined to give a new system the benefit of the doubt. If I'd cut this in Avid, I would be going home right now. Instead, I'm starting all over again.
