I notice at home on my new mac pro 12 core when I export a QT Ref from Avid then export the movie from QT 7.6.6 to compress it I see in Activity monitor CPU of 200% and more which means multiple cores are working. Now at work on an older 8 Core mac pro I am saving as a self contained movie a QT ref from Avid. In activity monitor the QT helper apps are showing 1 to 2% CPU usage. At home I'm running OS 10.8.3 and at work is OS 10.6.8. Would the differing OS's account for the difference I'm seeing in CPU usage or is there a vast difference in exporting from QT Pro 7.6.6 vs saving as a self contained movie? Not having a problem but just curious why I'm limping along a work when I gallop at home.
