[Avid-L2] Lower third graphic softness

Longtime issue for us over many versions of Avid.

Is seems that keyable graphics imported as stills (Tiff, TGA, Photoshop..any format) appear softer in a 1080i project than if the same exact graphic is created as a QuickTime movie (Avid DNX or Animation codec)

At first I thought it was incorrect settings for field order in the import dialog for the still version, but changing the setting to all three different options does not fix the problem.

As a test, make a simple graphic with text in After Effects (1080i, not 1080p)...export it both as a still and as an Avid QuickTime DNX file.

Import both into your Avid and cut between them keyed over a shot. Are they identical or is the still slightly softer? Please check in a broadcast monitor, not a computer screen,

BTW, if imported into Premiere and FCP, they ARE identical but not in Avid. I used After Effects for testing, as it is easy to do...but we first discovered the issue with graphics exported from a Chyron Lyric. We first thought the problem was there, but after testing with other software, it appears universal. Everything works fine in a progressive project, but interlaced causes the issue. As I said earlier, changing the field order setting when importing the still does not fix the problem.

Anyone else see this?
