Neat. I did the usb drive for 10.7 but in that case I had the update file. If I have two new computers that came with 10.8.x do I qualify to download the file from the apps store? I'll check into that. Thanks for the info and you are right it's plenty cheap to buy the update if for no other reason to have the ability to make a local bootable drive for emergencies.
