I'm getting ready to work on commercial spots that will be closed captioned
and the client is concerned that any supers we put on the spot will be
covered by the closed captioning, if the view has them turned on. Is there
an industry standard safe area to avoid for your supers if you're editing
with closed captioning in mind? Or do all TVs display them a little
differently? We will likely have the closed captioning done by a service
like Extreme Reach, with an HD and center punched SD spot as a deliverable,
if that matters.
Anybody have any insight on this, or can you point me to some reading
material? A preliminary google search didn't yield much, but I may not be
searching for the right terms.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
