There must be some interpretation going on - I did a 0-255 greyscale export from After Effects to QuickTime, once to DNxHD (RGB levels checked in options) and once using Animation. DNxHD becomes 16-235 on linking in Media Composer, Animation is not and comes in as 0-255. Bring both new files back into After Effects and they both show correctly as 0-255, the way I exported them.
