In order to perform a pulldown with consistent cadence, the deck needs interlocked trilevel 23.98 and bilevel 29.97 sync. Also, in the PD section of the VTR setup menu, item A05-PDREF must be set to 'lock2'
In the Avid, you need to start the capture at a '00' or '05' timecode frame count.

That's what we are doing now. I haven't loaded into a 23.98 SD project in years. I had thought that even though PD was being added at the deck, it would get removed during capture into a 23.98 project.
