Avid did not buy Nexidia -- yet they are reselling their fully-integrated products in what I can only assume is a revenue sharing relationship.
Why can't Avid be in a revenue sharing relationship with an independently-owned Filmlight?
Avid provides Filmlight with the hooks necessary to fully-integrate Baselight into MC/Symphony.
Filmlight supports, upgrades and bug-fixes the product -- just like Boris does.
I can guarantee you that Filmlight would sell units that are many, many multiples of the number of plugins they will sell.
And Avid gets a much needed refresh, in an area that requires enormous amounts of expertise and resources -- both of which may be very limited at this time.

And Avid could finally update the two programs and begin to differentiate them in a meaningful way.
