I suppose if there's no real competition anymore, there's no particular reason to stop at this point. They lost a lot of money, in my opinion, by failing to compete in the NLE market with a leaner, more powerful product line. But hell, now that FCP has self-destructed, I guess you're right, they can continue to take advantage of users by charging more for this superannuated color tool. All they're risking is growing resentment, and the fact that when the next cool thing comes along, users will be more motivated to jump to it.
As to Newscutter, I myself don't talk about it because I don't know anything about it and it's particular features. I figured it somehow had special ingest or other stuff optimized for fast news turnaround, but I honestly don't know.

It means they are still selling Symphonies. If they can monetize the difference
in their broadcast client market (the big one) then why should they stop.
How come no one here says Newscutter should vanish also?

find extremely silly at this point. I wonder what's up with that in the
corporate brain? Do they just not want to piss off people who bought the more
expensive version of Symphony a few years back? Don't they know that we know
that everything gets cheaper and more powerful as a matter of course?
