I recently worked on a series of comedy sketches shot on the F3 and I can also confirm that it records XDCam EX at 35 Mbps. My workflow was to AMA the clips into Avid and edit the 3 min sketches before transcoding the final cuts to DNX. The AMA clips played fine on my setup - (dual quad-core HPXW8400 with AMA clips on a two disk SAS raid 0 stripe). The AMA sequences were reasonably responsive whilst editing, although if your timeline is going to be longer than around 10 minutes I think you will see a slow-down in performance. In this case you may be better choosing your preferred takes and transcoding before editing. Also, stacking up video layers of AMA footage for complex effects will also slow Avid down a great deal.
