Re: [Avid-L2] z800s (Was WWDC Keynote)

I've got the HP Z800. I got it with the upgraded power supply because I had the NVidia Quadro 5000 in it, which required it. 12 gigs of RAM. I didn't go for the absolute fastest processor speeds because I didn't think I needed them. I have BMD card in it now, but I have a Kona 3 that I might try in it as well from my MacPro.

To be honest, I haven't edited much on Symphony with the system. I bought it and it was delivered the week before NAB, then I shipped it to NAB, then it had to be shipped BACK to me... so I've really only had it at my shop for about a month.

For those that saw my presentations at NAB using Speedgrade, that is the system I was using. Speedgrade can't use BMD or AJA video out... has to be the SDI out of an NVidia 5000 or above.

I also used that system to do the Symphony section of my latest MC6/Symphony training DVD series for Class on Demand. Other than those two projects, I haven't been on Symphony using the z800. The box itself is very nice. It weighs a ton, like a macpro. The quality of construction is very nice. But I can't speak for reliability or holding up under high-demand situations.
