[Avid-L2] adding 1080i/59.94 material into a 1080p/23.976 project ??

 

Need help - Got a project 1080p/23.976 with a bunch of material, also shot 1080p/23.976 in it. Client is delivering an HDCAM SR tape with a rought cut on it but that tape is in 1080i/59.94.
Whats the 'best' way to get that into my 1080p/23.976 project ?
Should I create a QT first that I could flip into 23.976 using MPEG Streamclip ? or, am I better just ingesting into MC and then doing a transcode ?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be most appreciated.
