Re: [Avid-L2] adding 1080i/59.94 material into a 1080p/23.976 project ??

You can bring it into MC in a 1080i59.94 project. Then open your 1080p23.976 project, and choose File->Open Bin and open the 1080i59.94 bin.

If you choose to display the Field Motion column (in the bin), you can select how the Avid should interpret the 1080i footage. There's an option that removes 2:3 pulldown. But if your client cut in 1080i, it will likely break pulldown cadence.

If you keep that Field Motion setting to Interlaced, you can still splice the 1080i footage into the 23.976p sequence, and Avid will auto-apply a motion adapter. You can choose the effect type (much like Timewarp, except no FluidMotion), or you can promote to a TimeWarp (and then you do have the FluidMotion option).

Or you can ask them for an EDL and see if you can reconform their rough cut from the 23.976p originals.
