5.0.3 was only tested and approved for use with SL 10.6.3, or 10.6.4 and 10.6.5 was pnly approved for use with Patch v5.0.3.7r. I have no idea how 5.0.3 will behave under 10.6.8 which was tested with 5.5.3.
Not sure what the error is but I would start with a compatible configuration first and then if you still have issues, email me the complete error/log.
