[Avid-L2] No dig...can someone explain why PC is preferred these days for MC?

 

I spent 6 months working on 5.5 on an iMac backed by Editshare, and it was the best experience working on an Avid I'd had since pre-Adrenaline days. Fast, I could go for weeks without a crash, honestly the first time it had been fun for me to work on Media Composer in years.

Now I'm cutting on a PC based MC, running 6.0.1, backed by a Unity installation, and it is not fun - crashy, slow to respond, seemingly tuned to save the instant I want to try something...

So - for real - is the reason for the preference for PCs just down to it being several years since we've had a new Mac Pro?

Is my setup at this post-house just sub-optimal, and if I had a new PC here I wouldn't be wondering?

Is there some other reason?
