Just tried with success. I have a Mac running 10.6.8 and MC 5.5.3. I
created a sequence and dropped in a clip that was DNxHD 36 at 42 minutes
long, with 2 tracks audio. Exported a completely embedded AAF file with
video and audio. It's a 12.1 GB AAF.

I reimported it and everything came back exactly as I expected.

This was a relatively simple test and probably doesn't mimic real world
stuff, but I proved at least that you can output AAF larger than 4 GB with
32-bit Avid.

AAF export settings:

All (5) boxes at top of window selected

Video:
Consolidate Media - 60 frames
Embedded in AAF

Audio:
Consolidate Media - 60 frames
Remove track effects checked
Split tracks to mono checked
Convert sample rate checked (project)
Convert bit depth checked (project)
Convert file format checked (AIFF)
Embedded in AAF
