Yes, the trial version is identical. It just quits working after 30 days. And, any bins that are MADE with the trial version won't open in a DIFFERENT trial version after 30 days, unless they've been opened and closed in a licensed version. So, no 'serial trial-ing.'

Also I only have on MC that uses decklink- but multiples that use AJA. There used to be a third piece of software you have to load, but I think that's actually been incorporated in tho BMD's drivers now.
