Re: [Avid-L2] OT/ FCP noob questions for Avid Pro's...

Hi Tom,

As a general rule, edit it in the format it was shot and transcode it into any desired format later.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Subject: [Avid-L2] OT/ FCP noob questions for Avid Pro's...

Sorry for the FCP OT Avid-L'rs...

I'm working in FCP and have a few FCP setup questions. I'm working in
primarily 1920x1080 29.97 Progressive sourced materials. All material is
being transcoded to 29.97P Pro-Res 422 if it's not in that format to begin
with. I have an AJA LHi card in my Mac workstation.

My questions are:
1. Should my timeline be a true 29.97P? There is also the option to work in
a 29.97i or 29.97PsF timeline. The other editor I work with cuts in a 29.97i
timeline.
2. My LHi card playback can be set for 29.97i, 29.97PsF and 29.97P. My
monitor will playback all 3 flavors. Does it matter which one I monitor in?
I can also monitor in 8 or 10 bit. I'm monitoring in 10bit.
3. The AJA gives you the option of HDMI output in YUV or RGB. Any setting
preferred over the other?

Thx for the help folks...

TMcD
