I recently needed to output 1080/24P to 1080i/59.94 DFTC, and used the digital cut tool with 60i reference. Surprisingly, the tape timecodes mostly matched the 24P codes, not the Avid estimated DFTC numbers, E.G a cut at 1:24:40:00/24P would be at the same number on the 1080i/59.94 DF tape, and not Avid's estimated 1;24;41;14/30DF.
In TCs that don't exist in 24P, a cut at 1:01:13:21/24P is at 1;01;13;26 on the i/59.94 tape instead of Avid's 30DF window of 1;01;13;28.
Typically when outputing a 24P project to NTSC SD, we go deck to deck - SR5500 to DVW500, adding pull down. If I need to insert from Avid directly, I change the project format to NTSC 24P, add pulldown, and it is perfectly frame accurate, and matches the Avid timecode 30DF window.
Sorry for the long post- any ideas, recommendations for 24P to i/59.94?
