Precisely.
And, if I am not mistaken, the genesis of the behavior was due to limitations in early Apple keyboards. It certainly has nothing to do with PC keyboards, as they have ALWAYS had discrete keys with very well-defined behavior.
However, regardless of the differences of nomenclature, there is simple no reason why the repeated use of a "Delete" key in a PC/MC installation -- should cause characters to the left of the cursor to be sequentially eliminated.
This schizophrenic behavior (eliminating characters on BOTH sides of the cursor) it both unintuitive and infuriating when editing the names of MC objects.
