I'm running into the exact same problem trying to upgrade from 5.5.1 Mac. At first I can see all the packages in the uninstaller but then they disappear with the same message Rob is seeing.
Deactivate software is greyed out in MC. This Mac has a dongle so is deactivation necessary or possible?
