Re: [Avid-L2] Matrox MX02 issues with Mac MC 5.5?

What sort of project is it? Have you tried a 59i project?

I ask, because we have had some problems with it due to a change in the way the Avid handles progressive frame rates in 5.5.

In 5.0, when we set the Matrox to play out at "1080", the playback in 1080p23.98 projects was at 59i to the HDMI monitor. But when we moved up to 5.5 we found that when using the same settings the playback was now true 1080p.

And, our clients monitors don't support 1080p. So no video.

Took a little research, but we found that there is a console command: togglepsf

Enacting that command switches the playback from true progressive to psf, and as result was able to playback on our client monitors.

FWIW, we have also found that we can't playback 1080p/24 (as opposed to 1080p23.98) projects using 5.5. Contacted Avid, no workaround for that one yet...if any one knows anything.

(Oh, and this is a Mac issue only, because I know that on a PC there is an option to correct for it in the Matrox controls).
