Terry Curren predicted for at least two years they would get out of NLEs completely. Clearly that didn't happen, and I'm glad they're responding like they are, but it's (reasonalby and sensibly) opportunistic. As is Adobe's push. Adobe is no more dependent on Premiere than Apple is on Final Cut Pro. Even Creative Suite isn't the most important or profitable product in Adobe's range; high end document handling systems and Flash are the primary income streams.
