search the Avid Community forums for the bus error issue. 10.6.8 is not yet officially approved for use with Media Composer, so you may not want to do that just yet.

I am editing on an iMac, just upgraded to Avid MC 5.5.1, am on Mac OS 10.6.3 (just set it to update to 10.6.8) I am using a Sony DCR PC110 NTSC with firewire. First hour tape captured fine. Not been able to do any more without getting the error I list below after part of the tape loads. Tried restarting everything and tried multiple times.

I can't capture more than one or two clips before I get 'Exception: std::exception, what" "Bus error" in thread "AlertableTimer", at address 0x0'. Mostly after capturing from In-Out rather than on-the-fly. MacBookPro 3GB RAM, OS 10.6.5. Tried on another McBookPro (4GB RAM, 10.6.5, Mc 3.0.3.5). Same problem. Unusable. Using a Sony DSR45P deck in a PAL project. Done the usual. Trashed settings, new project, new user etc. I will now try with a couple of DV cameras to see if it works. Anyone?
