[Avid-L2] MC 5.5.x on a "Nehalem" Mac

Greetings, Listers.

[Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked &
answered.]

I'm considering upgrading MC 3.5.9.6 to MC 5.5.x. The installation
would be software-only to start. The candidate system runs FC Studio 3
with a Kona 3 card on the primary HDD partition. A secondary partition
runs MC 3.5.9.6 with a 1st-generation MOJO on OSX 10.6.0.

The intention is to update the secondary HDD partition to OSX 10.6.6,
then install Media Composer software only, using the MOJO. I'd invoke
the Kona 3 card if and once support is offered for it by AJA. I/O for
facility-class VTRs would be handled at a separate workstation.

The "Nehalem" Mac meets all MC 5.5 system hardware requirements except
processor speed. Avid's minimum stated requirement is "Intel Quad-Core
Xeon prosessors, 2 x 2.66 GHz.." My system runs "Intel Quad-Core Xeon
processors, 2 x 2.26 GHz."

Is anyone on the list running such a configuration? If so, are there
any hiccups? Are any such hiccups related to I/O?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Jesse Ettinger
