Ultimately this will all boil down to two things:
1. What Apple does in the next 6 months to 1 year. If Apple demonstrates more rapid updates with third party developers jumping in - and releases new desktop hardware - then uneasy nerves will be calmed.
2. If our clients - producers, directors, offline editors, etc. - gravitate to one tool or the other - then we will want to maintain compatibility. Many folks moved from Avid to FCP "classic" because that's where the work was. This migration does have a chance of being repeated.
These two things will predict adoption of FCP X or a move to another software platform by "professional" editors.
