Only a guess on my part John, but maybe this will help:
Inside the project folder will be a folder called "_SearchDB_"
I'd try: first, back that up, then move it out of that folder. Restart MC and see if that DB rebuilds.
Possibly it became corrupt with the abrupt shutdown?
Please report back . . . I'm curious.
