I think it's essential that you invest in a decent rig. The photos of the camera in these two posts of mine are the rig that the DP used for the shoots in my Vimeo links.

He had existing Arri gear modified for rails, handles, mounting, etc. A couple of other clients of mine have built up complete rigs optimized for their cameras. These included various Zacuto and other parts (rails, matte box, follow focus, eyepiece, LCD monitor, HDMI-to-SDI convertor, external battery).
Once you add all of this up, you are looking at $5K-$8K in parts. Then add glass - in some cases, Zeiss Compact Primes ($28K a set). So you really have to be serious about it to do it right.
That's one of the reasons I think Panasonic's AF100 will have a lot of legs to it. Many of the people who had racked up some experience with these HDSLRs, still prefer a "real" camera, but don't want to lose the "look". That's what the AF100 provides.
