Re: [Avid-L2] Re: AVCHD Q for U

Well gang (and a helpful gang at that),

I did try iMovie, but it did not see the "naked" .mts files and I was tired of Squeeze either crashing during the encode or getting to the end of the encode and giving me files that would not open in QT Player.

I finally just bought ($50) this program: http://www.wondershare.com/pro/mac-video-converter-pro.html
It worked (the trial outputs with a watermark), and because the resulting files do not have to conform to broadcast specs, I was just happy that it worked!

I missed the advice about Sony Vegas, so that will be in mind for the future at least. And FYI, After Effects recognized the .mts files (which also helped me see that some files were 23.976 and others were 29.97!!). Why didn't I just use AE? After many attempts, my patience with experimenting was over. I just figured I'd go with something that worked and $50 was a small price to pay for a small bit of sanity!

Cheers!

B

> Hi guys, eye pokage is the best solution but there is an alternative in the form of Sony Vegas. Download the trial version, AVCHD footage imports almost instantly and can then be rendered out to Sony MXF which can be imported in to Avid as per normal with (as far as we could tell) no strange colour phasing or shifts. We had a bunch of this footage from canon and sony cameras and found we got very reliable results for every flavour of AVCHD. HTH,
