[Avid-L2] Re: Mojo SDI capture frame off 1 frame early from SRW-5500 correct on NitrisDX?

Interesting about the characters. My tests over the years, and confirmed by other, is that unless the characters are at the bottom of the screen they will be a field late. I did try both setting of the tc sense just to see if it would have any effect and it didn't. At the bottom they are dead on. As far as Vitc/Ltc that is up to what the machine is set to on the front panel. I usually leave it in auto to get the best of both worlds. Sense the deck was not changed from system to system that should not be a factor. The fact that the results on the mojo were only 50% accurate with the digibeta points more to the keyspan adapter, based on threads in the past that said frame accuracy was an issue on the Rohs compliant units. I haven't had a chance to get back on the SNDX to do a repetative accuracy test but every capture I did on that system was dead on. More will be revealed, I hope. I agree I would be better off with TC burnin on tape I rarely find I have access to a solid TC generator with burn in capability these days. Guess I could just output the Avid the time code window and use that in the future.

One thing I've found as well is that the "super" output overlay on some Sony decks (I don't remember which, but I have both DVW-A500 and SRW-5500) causes the 9-pin sense TC to be off by a frame. WEIRD I know, but this happens. I have found just by switching the character display off, the frame accuracy improves. If at all possible, record a tape with burn in and use that for your capture testing.
