[Avid-L2] Re: Before SL Upgrade do I carbon copy clone with MCsoft 3.0.5 Activated or Deactivated?

John -

You should deactivate before cloning and clean install. That way you can keep the deactivated 3.0.5 on your 'clone drive' but go ahead and install 5.0 on the clean drive with no problems.

Then after OS 10.6.3 upgrade I install MCSoft 5 and activate.  Or should I deactivate MCsoft 4.0.5 upgrade OS to 10.6.3 and then uninstall 4.0.5 and install 5.0?  The other question is should I carbon copy clone my startup disk before or after deactivating MCsoft 4.0.5?  I realize it's suggested to do a clean install of the OS but I've heard enough success' with just an OS upgrade that I'm going that route for starters.  My gut is to deactivate and uninstall before OS upgrade but curious what others have found.  I don't see this particular point of order specifically mentioned in the Read Me.
