what Avid wants and will allow - for now. Down the road, when Avid
opens up an SDK that all 3rd party hardware vendors can use, you'll
see all versions of MXO2 supported, as well as cards from other vendors.
One of the really nice features of MXO2 Mini for Avid folks is the
HDMI color calibration tool. It allows you to use an off the shelf
HDMI equipped flat panel screen for color grading and more. That can
save you another thousand bucks or more on glass!
This is a BIG step forward by Avid. It's just one of many. AMA
support for ProRes and DSLR quicktime files is HUGE! Avid, Matrox &
Canon did a mini event at the end of the show on Wed night. They were
showing off how well this all works together. It's really quite
impressive.
Avid is moving in a new direction. One that will benefit editors on
every level. At the FCPUG event I walked over tot the Euphonix table.
They had already hacked up their MC Control surface to work with MC.
Very cool!
Avid was one of the biggest stars at NAB. All the folks who worked
so hard on this release deserve a big round of applause. The industry
is talking about Avid, and Avid editors are excited as well. It's
about freaking time!
