[Avid-L2] 24 on Canon 5D, what am i doing wrong?

After Job bitching about the 5D always shoot in 23.976 instead of 24, i took
a two tests:

Set up Avid to a 24P project, locked to PAL bb.
attached a mic
Set up a Canon 5d to Pal, then 24.
Recorded ten minutes with clap at start and end.
Looked at the Canon clip in QT player, it shows as 23.98
Imported the Canon clip in Avid (ignoreQTrate = True),
and lined up Avid sound with Canon sound at start clap.

Now i would think that the canon would have been speeded up by
23.976 / 24 = 0.999 times, so the end clap was off by 14 frames
(10 mins * 60 seconds * 24 frames) - (10 mins * 60 seconds * 24 frames *
0.999 )

But it was not, it was perfect in sync....
Did Avid shrink the sound? (I did not do pitch tests yet...)
What happened to the video then? IgnoreQTrate was True, so a frame should be
a frame...

Next test, force make it bad.
Set up the Canon in NTSC, then choose 24, do the same test.
Again, perfect sync.

WTF? This sounds like the Canon ALWAYS shoots 24...

Have not had time to run the tests in NTSC, but if anyone has ideas what
i've
could have done wrong to get it right, i would like to hear.
