have only studio content in HD - most don't yet have the newsroom
infrastructure to use/upconvert to HD. Spots are even further behind and are
generally 4:3 SD, from my experience. I have seen one exception here in
Birmingham, where a station airs SD spots but has :03 news IDs in HD. It
looked funny during the Super Bowl.
Run away from anamorphic. I've seen too many local/regional spots where
clever editors thought this would work.
