This just started showing up in 4.x - at least I never noticed it
before - when you touch your mouse on the 'record' monitor, you get a
position display superimposed on the monitor - showing the position of
the mouse in the image. Has that always been there, and I never
noticed it before?

More importantly, when you're running AE or PS at the same time, and
hot-switch between them (command-tab,) sometimes when you come back to
Avid the background of a render 'clock' is up - and you can't get rid
of it, or use any 'buttons' on the interface- your mouse only works
with pulldown menus - you have to exit the program and restart to gain
control of the interface again. Anyone else seeing this?
