[Avid-L2] OT: This is a new one to me

Someone posted this on another, much, much less experienced list.

"Manufacturers like Seagate do not recommend using their internal drives in external enclosures. And as such will void warranties. Maxtor drives
have a notorious rep for not working well in external enclosures. WD and Hitachi have the best reps for working in ext. enclosures. "

I've never heard of this and haven't read the manufacturers warranty.

Is this guy full of it? Bob?
