[Avid-L2] Re: Mixing 1080p and I

Sounds like the tape would be 1080 29.97 Psf. You can bring that into a 59.94 I project. It would still be progressive in that the 2 Psf "fields" would come from the same moment in time. The only slight glitch is that any effects will be field based not frame based. Subtle but definately annoying when tracking an ID blur. More of a headache when pull down is involved. Not sure about the file based approach and the ability to import that into a 59.94 1080I project.

I am assuming the source is a 29.97 Psf not 23.98 with pulldown added to make it 29.97. I'm with you on avoiding the file based stuff in general but at some point I will have to deal with it. Actually I've done some shows that were file based but all the capture was already done. And the archiving was or will be to LTO if they ever get around to it.
