[Avid-L2] Follow Up on Avid Download Center changes

Hey L2'rs….

There was a recent note sent out to customers about Avid Download Center changes for Media Composer, Media Composer Ultimate and Media Composer Enterprise.  This generated a lot of back and forth so here is what Chris and I wrote which explains it better.  Most chatter was on the forums and social but I wanted to reach as many peeps as possible so I am posting it here.

Post: As many of you know, Avid is moving forward with a great deal of advancements for the Media Composer product family. This includes the newly released ScriptSync AI and PhraseFind AI in 2023.8. You can preview this new technology in Media Composer 2023.8 with new auto-transcription ability, and the handling of multiple languages, combined with the ability to work with Linked, Transcoded, or Consolidated clips in any format,. All this has been gaining praise from many folks online.

This is the kind of feedback we're looking to continue pursuing, which will require new development. Many of you are already posting questions in the new Preview Community forum which will help us in the long run.

While Avid's partnership with Nexidia and its parent company NICE provided the initial technology for ScriptSyncand PhraseFind we all utilized for many years, we have modernized ScriptSync AI and PhraseFind AI by craftingnew AI technology of our own. Although this ends our partnership with NICE in this area, it is confirmation that we are working to update our technology wherever we can.

Important - By September 29th, 2023, we will be removing all legacy versions of Media Composer from our Download Center that contain the Nexidia code, and we will soon be updating the currently supported Long Term Maintenance (LTM) releases; 2021.12.x and 2022.12.x. These, and all future versions of Media Composer, will only contain the new development for ScriptSync AI and PhraseFind AI. If you are running a legacy version of Media Composer and wish to continue doing so, it will continue to functionfor the length of your subscription term. Perpetual licenses will also continue to function with legacy versions. However, it is important that you visit the Download Center prior to September 29th to download any version installer that you have a license for and may need access to in the future.  Be sure to store it in a safe location in case you ever need it. Then, at your earliest convenience, please upgrade to one of the officially supported versions.

Note: Running the latest LTM version guarantees the smoothest and most reliable operation, with regular updates and bug fixes – for more information on supported software versions, click here.
