Well, the CC thing is done, it can now set offsets, convert between drop / non-drop, and decode / display the SCC's
(Mac only, do Win later today)

But now the fun starts. Looking at the specs from Roku, they don't state SCC / closed captions anywhere.
They do however talk about subtitles.

Subtitles are totally different from captions. Although you can 'sorta kinda' convert between them, both the layout and content are entirely different.
For content, CC has audio description, where subtitles have not. CC is for the deaf / hard hearing, while subs translate foreign languages.
For layout, CC uses up to 4 lines with position / color info, while subs are up to two lines, bottom aligned unless there is a conflict with lower thirds.
