[Avid-L2] Media Composer 2018.12.10 Launching Today

Media Composer 2018.12.10 Launching Today

Today, January 28,2020 at 12:00 noon ET, we will launch a Media Composer (2018.12.10).  This will be available on the Download Center at launch.

ReadMe: I have attached the current ReadMe to this Alert.   Nora will upload this document to the Media Composer 2018 Documentation page at launch.

IMPORTANT INSTALLER INFO (Windows) Both a full installer and a patch installer are provided for Media Composer v2018.12.10.  To use the patch, you must have v2018.12.3 already installed. Then use the 2018.12.10 patch to update to v2018.12.10.

Note: that many users are asking about Catalina support in the future for use with with the long Long Term Maintenance Release 2018.x.   Avid will NOT approve nor test Catalina on any 2018.x versions due to the extensive work to remove a lot of 32-bit code and making large changes that could have adverse effects on users who rely on 2018.12.x.

What’s fixed in 2018.12.10:

The following has been fixed.

  • Bug Number: MCCET-3449. You might have experienced issues when working with Dynamic
Relink and relinking between high and proxy resolutions. In some instances, the resolution did
not successfully update to the requested resolution.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3398. In some instances, working with the Stabilize effect resulted in an
    “Access Violation” error.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3079. If Run Length Endcoded (RLE) was enabled in the Import
Settings (Image tab) imported graphics displayed WRONG FORMAT.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3289. Using the Find Script button might have highlighted an entire
selection in the script rather than just the line with the script marker on it.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3419. If Dupe Detection was enabled, you might have received an
“Exception: CORE_SEGMENT_NOT_FOUND” error when moving the audio clip to another
audio track using the Segment tool.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3071. Intermittently, Media Composer would hang when you exited the
application. This is fixed with NVIDIA driver v441.28.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3332. AAF exports from Media Composer v2018.12.8 and v2019.9 did
    not import into Pro Tools.
  • Bug Number: MCCET-3262. In some instances, when loading media that had been transcoded
using Distributed Processing transcode into the Source monitor, Media Composer crashed
