Job Description

Job Title: Post Engineer

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the post production infrastructure of a production company specializing in documentaries, docuseries and branded content. Key technologies include Mac OS, Linux and Windows Servers, Avid Media Composer, NEXIS Shared Media Storage, Cisco networks, Hyper-V, Aspera, LTO Tape Libraries, and complex post production workflows. The Post Engineer will focus on supporting current infrastructure as well as be responsible for implementing new systems. This person will work closely with the production and post production teams, IT team, and various vendors.

Location: 2040 Stoner Ave., Suite A Los Angeles CA 90025

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Provide proactive IT support and maintenance services across Engineering technologies in a post-production offline and online environment 
• Analyze business requirements to develop technical solutions and their framework 
• Design, document, test and deploy infrastructure solutions including networks, storage, compliance and cybersecurity 
• Carry out updates and security patching of Mac OS, Windows, Linux systems 
• Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose infrastructure issues 
• Liaise with external and internal system integrators, vendors, subject matter experts and stakeholders 
• Involvement with structural change, 
• Participate in knowledge transfer, documentation and information sharing. 
• Stay abreast of new technology 
• Awareness of industry security standards, MPAA compliance

Unusual Challenges or Circumstances e.g. shift(s)/ unsocial hours/ travel etc

• There may be occasions that you may be requested to work out of the normal office hours and/or be asked to participate in travel. This is subject to your manager’s discretion and will be discussed with you if applicable. 
• Available to work out of normal business hours and weekends/holidays when necessary 

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

• Knowledge and experience of Mac OS, Linux and Windows Servers, Arista, Cisco Networks, Hyper-V, Avid NEXIS Shared Media Storage, Aspera, Storage DNA, LTO Library and backup procedures. 
• Extensive experience of Avid work environments, ability to troubleshoot issues. 
• Strong experience of post-production technologies (Scripting, Workflows, Encoding, Online, Color and Mix)
• Experience and understanding of MPAA Compliance

Desirable

• Cisco Network qualification such as CCNA
• Knowledge and experience of Aspera, Adobe Creative Pod Suite, encoding and content distribution platforms

Qualifications And Training

Mandatory

• 5+ years working as a post engineer in an offline editorial facility
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience 
• Avid Certification/ASCR

Desirable

• Current industry standard certifications preferred (CCNA/CCNP)
• Experience in an MPAA environment
• Documentation and technical + non-technical writing (plans, process + procedures etc.).
